Who doesn’t love a little side game action when you’re playing a round of golf with friends? If you’ve never played a side game before – then you’re missing out. They’re called “side games” and in the 18Birdies app, we make it easier for you to keep track and play those games while scoring and playing a round in the app. You can place bets (for cash, beers or someone’s Scotty Cameron...) or you can just play to add a little friendly competition. Whatever you decided to wager, that’s up to you, but playing side games can definitely make things that much more interesting!

The third most-played side game in the app is Dots (aka Junk). We can tell that our users enjoy the flexibility of keeping track of points in many different ways in our app. In Dots, you win points for specific achievements, like long drive, closest to the pin, lowest score, and so much more. The second most played game? Points (also called Pointers).
The Points betting game in the app provides a flexible framework that allows you to play whichever way you like. Choose the number of betting units that correspond to each point, and then as you play, manually add points to each player’s total to reflect their on course performance. There are many variations to the way people play, so we account for that in the app.

SKINS!
This is best for a highly-competitive bunch. Don’t know how to play? It’s easy. Each hole is a separate match. The player with the lowest score on a hole wins a skin. In the event of a tie, skins can carry over to the next hole. At the end of the game, the difference in total skins between you and other players will be your final win-loss – with each losing player owing the winner the number of points associated with the difference.
Golfers can decide how many different categories they want included in the game, increasing the competitive atmosphere, because you are playing for a variety of points on every shot. Plus, there’s very little setup and the app automatically tracks your side games for you!
