Key Stats for Trinity Forest: SG: Approach & SG: Around The Green

Lock of the week:

Embed from Getty Images Jimmy Walker $9,500 - This field has hit every branch on the way down the U-G-L-Y tree. For that reason, we’re not too high on paying up for the top names. We prefer a more balanced approach in DFS contests and Jimmy is where it all begins. We trust he’ll be a popular play in tournaments, but we’ll roster anyway like we did with Webb Simpson last week. Cha Ching! The Texas native is in fantastic form and checks the boxes with his iron play and short game recently. Hard to find a reason why he’s not a favorite to win this event over just about anyone other than Jordan. Therefore...he’s a value at $9,500. Swing away in GPPs and cash games on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Value Plays:

Marc Leishman $9,100 - There’s truth to the narrative that Aussie’s play well in Texas. Similar conditions lend to these boys playing well in the Lonestar state. Marc disappointed at The Players, but we see a bounce-back opportunity here at Trinity Forest. He’s contended at an Open Championship links course and he’s part of the class of this borderline class-less field. The putter is the reason for the struggles lately, and we know that can turn around at any moment. Marc is top 10 in this field in SG: APP and SG: ATG in the last 12 rounds despite the less than stellar form. He’s another GPP and cash game lock for us.

Grayson Murray $8,200 - We typically talk up Grayson for his bomb and score style, but he’s also played quite well on Bermuda putting surfaces this season. When you add all that to the form this year, we like him at Trinity Forest. He’s gained 17 strokes total in the last six weeks on the PGA Tour. The social media trainwreck also ranks in the top 20 in the field in DraftKings scoring, SG: OTT and SG: ATG over the last 12 rounds. Embed from Getty Images Aaron Baddeley $7,500 - Crikey Mate! It’s another wind lovin, dirt lovin, flat piece of earth lovin Aussie! Badds has been one of the best putters on the PGA Tour over the last decade, and that should serve him well on these large, undulating greens at Trinity Forest. Plus, he’s top 25 in the field over the last 12 rounds in SG: APP and SG: ATG. The putter’s actually been a touch cold recently, but when Badds gets it rolling, watch out. We see top five upside here for Aaron and love him in tournaments on DraftKings.

Best bargain basement option:

Kevin Na $7,200 - This is our “gut (of the dad bod variety) play of the week.” Na seems poorly priced in this awful field given his pedigree and ball striking prowess over the long term. Now, he hasn’t played well lately, but he just made his first cut in six weeks at The Players with a T46 finish against the strongest field in golf. Plug him in here at Trinity Forest where the field compares to the strength of an Icelandic mini-tour, and we like his odds to return substantial value at $7,200. In our two key stats for the week, he ranks top 20 in both over the last 12 rounds despite the poor play. We love him in GPPs and we’re warming up to the idea of having him in cash lineups.

Player to Avoid:

Hideki Matsuyama $9,900 - Hideki-Bot has a malfunction or possible malware issue in his operating system of late. His game was putrid at the Wells Fargo and Players. He’s always a risk for a WD with some sort of injury. With the strength of this field, pricing and difficulty fitting six guys you’re comfortable with in your lineups, we’ll gladly save the money and fade Hideki. If he wins, oh well...we’ll all be shocked. But on a brand new course with ZERO form, we’ll take our chances.
