Located on the Kohala Coast on Hawaii's Big Island, Mauna Kea is both a severe test for the expert golfer and an enjoyable resort course for the casual hacker. Pictured above, the hole features a challenging carry over water that can be played anywhere from a playful 100-yard lob onto the green all the way back to an eye-popping 272-yard Hail Mary.
Although the third hole gets most of the attention and the lion's share of the Instagrams, the remainder of the course is a joy to play. Depending on your ambitions and your appetite for punishment, you can play Mauna Kea anywhere from 5,000 yards from the front tees all the way back to 7,300 yards from the tips. Look forward to spectacular ocean views from undulating fairways, lush vegetation, and exposed lava rock. Coming in at number 26 on the top 100 golf courses list, it's a Hawaiian classic.

Makai Golf Club (Kauai, Hawaii)
Perched above beautiful Hanalei Bay on the stunning island of Kauai, Makai Golf Club is the first solo design project that Robert Trent Jones Jr. undertook. Winding its way through tropical woodlands and offering epic ocean views, the course can be played from 5,400 yards up to 7,200 yards
Jones recently returned to Makai to complete a magnificent overhaul of the golf course. He renovated the fairways and greens, improving the playing surfaces and reshaping the green complexes and bunkering. The finished work is an ideal resort golf course: user-friendly and approachable for casual golfers, while still testing the most elite.

Quintero Golf Club (Peoria, Arizona)
A new arrival to the ranks of top 100 golf courses, Quintero Golf Club near Phoenix is carved into the ruggedly beautiful Sonoran desert landscape.
Designed by Rees Jones, it is a strategic course that will present a formidable challenge to top players. When teeing it up from the 7,200 yard back tees, the golf is testing from tee to green. From more forward tees, its generous landing areas cater to less auspicious golfers.
